With a couple of glitches in the presentation Tesla founder Elon Musk revealed the long awaited Cybertruck last night at the unveiling in LA.
This Cyberturck certainly is a departure from the design pattern Tesla has followed for the last few years so it really got me thinking… Is this some form of “Attention Marketing” to reinvigorate life into a brand that’s already way ahead of the EV curve and making press all the time? Or is this part of a larger strategy to change people’s perception of what a car should look like with other futuristic cars to come? After all, the general design of cars and pick-up trucks has gone relatively unchanged in the last few decades.
I’m not sure if I like this design or not. In my opinion it’s definitely for a niche buyer vs. mass market consumer base, and maybe that’s ok. I’m not a pick-up truck driver so in the end, it doesn’t matter much to me. I will definitely give Musk credit for going out on a limb and undoubtedly if I saw on driving or parked somewhere, I’d pull out my phone and take all kinds of pictures for my social accounts in awe, like I imagine other people will do as well. (And like I just did here)
What do you think of #CYBERTRUCK?
I am not a car industry or Tesla Analyst. But am curious about their overall strategy here.
